David Kehr BIOL-1615 Article Summary Reflection April 5, 2014 This assignment helped me achieve the learning outcomes

of acquiring substantive knowledge, communicating effectively, and thinking critically. Each of the outcomes were intrinsically related to one another in regard to this assignment. By studying the topic of the article I acquired substantive knowledge of the subject of childhood nutrition in a rural community of the Dominican Republic. That knowledge was demonstrated when I was required to speak effectively to rephrase the article in my own words. Substantive knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively were tied together. I had to excercise my ability to think critically when reading the document. Deciding which key terms from the article to include in my summary required critical thinking skills. Overall, thinking critically, acquiring substantive knowledge, and communicating effectively were necessary to complete this assignment.
