EXAMPLE 11-1 Anchorage of a Straight Bar
A 40-cm-wide cantilever beam frames into the edge of a 40-cm-thick wall, as shown.
At ultimate, the DB25 bars at the top of the cantilever are stressed to their yield
strength at point A at the face of the wall. Compute the minimum embedment of the
bars into the wall. The concrete is normal-weight concrete with a strength of 240 ksc.
The yield strength of the flexural reinforcement is 4,000 ksc.
