JOIN HOUSING WORKS FOR LGBT EQUALITY & JUSTICE DAY 2014

WHEN: TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2014 WHERE: NEW YORK STATE CAPITOL 9AM-5PM STATE STREET, ALBANY, NY 11230
As a proud member of the Transgender Rights Coalition, Housing Works is pleased to be joining our friends at Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA) and hundreds of other New Yorkers in Albany on Tuesday, April 29th, for the largest annual statewide LGBT advocacy day! Our LGBT community is as diverse and colorful as the New York springtime wildflowers that are finally starting to bloom! In keeping with that, the theme of this years Equality & Justice Day, Many Communities, One New York, speaks to those diverse voices of LGBT New Yorkers and the many issues were fighting for. In particular, our fight to secure transgender civil rights and the passage of the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (GENDA) remains our number-one legislative priority. Its still perfectly legal to evict someone from their home or fire them from their job simply because of who they are. When it comes to providing protections on the basis of gender identity and expression, New York State is behind nearly one-third of the country and its long overdue for our legislators to pass GENDA and protect the citizens they represent. Equality & Justice Day is your opportunity to play a key role in awareness of key laws for the LGBT community, meet your legislators face to face, build crucial skills and conference with hundreds of New York's most dedicated change-makers. Don't miss your chance to make your voice heard register today & join us! To learn more or to RSVP, please visit the official Equality & Justice Day webpage or contact Sheilah R. Sable, Ssable@prideagenda.org, Direct: (518) 649-8135 l cell (518) 937-7908.
