Human psyche can be divided into three parts;

id, ego, superego .

ID psyche operates on pleasure principle,

source of basic drives.

Ego seeks to please IDs drive in realistic ways. Super ego criticize persons drives, actions,

fantasies, feelings.

 Eros is the life drive that is drive for survival,

propagation, hunger, thirst, physical need. These instincts are important for the continuation of the species

Thanatos is the drive towards death. Self destructive behavior is an expression of the energy

created by death instinct.
