Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact Rationale/Reflection InTASC Standard #4: Concept Knowledge The teacher understands the central

concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners to assure mastery of the content. Brief escription of !vidence: This artifact is a math lesson plan I created in the fall semester of 20 ! in my Intro to "ducation #lass. This lesson plan uses multiple instruction strategies such as$ guided practice using manipulati%es, modeling, group learning, and one to one correspondence& and creates a learning experience that ensures that all learners can master the content, 'ith help as needed. Analysis of "#at I $earned: I learned that I need to understand the sub(ect and content of 'hat I am teaching and the age le%el and abilities of the children I am teaching. I 'ill teach using differing instructional strategies and methods to ensure that I am reaching all of my students. I 'ill also make sure that my instruction is enabling understanding and retention of the content I teach. %ow T#is Artifact e&onstrates &y Co&petence on t#e InTASC Standard: This artifact demonstrates my competence in this standard because it demonstrates a %ariety of teaching and learning strategies. )ne of the most effecti%e strategies in this lesson is group learning. *nother strategy in this lesson is modeling. +ho'ing the children ho' to use the manipulati%es accessible to them can assist in helping to ensure that they 'ill be able to master the content on their o'n ,y using such teaching strategies as group learning, modeling, teacher led instruction, and use of technology I can be sure that I am reaching all of my learners. I ha%e built into the lesson se%eral times 'here 'e -check for understanding., 'hich is pro%ing 'hether or not the students are mastering and retaining the material. This 'ill allo' me to go back and help the students 'ho may not be mastering the information taught. The e%aluation time at the end of the lesson also allo's for opportunity to pro%e mastery or more instruction needed.
