Cougars Earn Early Season Lessons

The Cougar wrestling team worked through some early season jitters to claim two medals at the home Cougar Classic. The team is very young with only two seniors so they have had to rely on their youth to grow up very quickly. Joey Simpson (285 lbs.) led the way for the Cougars with a 4-0 record at the meet, with four pins on the way to a rst place nish. Sam Simpson earned a hard earned 4th place nish in the 182 lb. division. Other individuals earning wins in the tournament were Ryan Colgrove (152 lbs.), Jake Herz (145 lbs.), Bryan Richards (132 lbs.), Jacob Sawyer (132 lbs.), and Jacob Huckleberry (220 lbs.). The Cougars nished 11th out of 11 teams. The Cougars will travel to Nebraska City on Tuesday for the Nebraska City JV tournament.

Wrestlers Raise Money and Fans through Takedown-a-thon

The wrestlers main fundraiser this year is a Takedown-a-thon, their main goal is to nd people who are interested in sponsoring them for every takedown that they get in a match this season. Sponsors are able to donate as little as $.01 for every takedown that their specic wrestler receives. ! For example, lets take Jake Herz, if you look at the column on the left, he has 11 takedowns so far this season. If you sponsored Jake for say $0.50 for every takedown he recorded for the year you so far would owe $5.50. At the end of the year we would add up all of his takedowns and you would pay the amount that you pledged.! This type of fundraiser is great for getting your sponsors to follow you and the rest of the team to celebrate your successes. ! If you are interested in sponsoring a wrestler please feel free to contact Coach Colgrove at conestogawrestling@gmail.com.!
