Materials: Boiled eggs Rack Food coloring Water Spoon Cups

Curriculum Content: Cognitive Development-Experience cause and effect

Beginning: Large Group-Suggest a egg hunt and egg coloring to see who is interested in the idea.

Middle: Help to drop the dye into the water, then adding the eggs

Extensions: Easier-The younger children can squeeze the food color bottles to drop coloring into the water. Trickier-Put the eggs into the cups to dye, then help remove them from the cups with a spoon and put them on a rack to dry.

End: Empty all of the dye into the sink then wash out the cups. Have the teachers hide the eggs during nap time. Children will hunt for the eggs when they are awake.

Follow-up Ideas: Put the cups and spoon into the kitchen area for use in other cooking ideas.
