NEWS RELEASE
April 15, 2014 SUBJECT: PIKETON COUPLE CHARGED WITH CONVEYING DRUGS INTO SCIOTO COUNTY JAIL Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware announce that on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at approximately 3:45p.m., detectives from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force with assistance from staff of the Scioto County Jail discovered that 26 year old Cody W. Cox and 24 year old Lindsay Dawn Kneisley, both of Tennyson Rd. Piketon, Ohio, had carried illegal drugs into the Scioto County Jail. After receiving information from the 23 Major Crimes Drug Task Force located in Ross County, Ohio, detectives from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force questioned Cox and Kneisley about hiding drugs within their bodies, while being committed to the Scioto County Jail per order of the Scioto County Common Pleas Court. Cox and Kneisley both removed packages from inside their bodies that contained the drugs, Naloxone and Suboxone, which are both commonly used in the treatment of opiate dependency. Both Cox and Kneisley also possessed tobacco, while Cox also possessed a small amount of suspected marijuana. Cox and Kneisley were charged with Illegal Conveyance of Drugs and Prohibited Items into a Detention Facility, a felony of the 3rd degree, and will be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court at 9:00a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Cox and Kneisley are currently waiting to stand trial in Scioto County Common Pleas Court for allegedly committing the same offense at the Scioto County Jail in the past. Cox also currently has an indictment warrant for his arrest, which had been issued by the Ross County Common Pleas Court for allegedly committing a felony drug offense.
