Social Reflection of Songs

Listen to the first song, Another Day in Paradise by Phil Collins (track 1) Answer: What is the song about? Who is the main character in the song?

Describe the character?

Listen to the second song, Both Sides of the Story by Phil Collins (track 10) Answer: What is the song about? Mention the different situations exposed. These questions will be answered orally and the performance will be evaluated through the use of an Oral Expression Rubric.

After reviewing carefully both songs, find similarities and differences between them. Complete the Comparison Chart found in the Inspiration 8 program under the Thinking Skills templates. Make an oral presentation explaining your chart. Determine the theme/topic the song have in common. Print out chart and hand it in to the teacher. Teacher will evaluate performance using an Oral Presentation Rubric.

Choose one of the social problems mentioned in the songs. Research the topic. Use Research chart as a guide. Give an Oral Presentation.

Alternate Project:
Go to Windows Media Player. Open Media Library. Play and listen to the songs recorded. Find two songs with themes in common. Present them to the class.
