The punishment for criminals should be more severe

Whether light or heavy, criminals are cancer of the society. Big majority of them ends up in prison sooner or later. Usually, high rates of crime are present in undeveloped countries and countries in transit. Non-existent or poor social control, poverty, unemployment, are all contributing factors to rising rates of crime in Bosnia. lot of young people are turning to crime because they can!t find jobs, and everyone "ants #uic$ success. There is one famous street #uote %&f & don!t have it, you have it, and it "ill be mine'. (n the one hand, solution for removing crime is to imprison criminals, and punishments should be more severe. &t!s a fact that fe" years in prison cell change anyone, and give a lesson to criminal that crimes lead to lost years of life. &t!s basic psychology. Their "ives usually cheat on them "hile they are in prison, so they learn that doing criminal deeds destroy their lives. (n the other hand, severe punishments are a complete disaster. s the time goes by, prisons get full, and ne" are built, and society pays the money for that. &nstead of resociali)ing, criminals get even more criminal inside* +or example, if a man "ent to prison for burglary, and meets another criminal in prison "ho robbed ban$s, there is a big chance he "ill be a ban$ robber "hen he is released. ,sychologists suggest that prisoners should spend only a little time "ith other prisoners, but almost all prisons allo" prisoners to hang out and tal$ "hole day. lso, prisons are used only to remove those people from the streets, not to resociali)e them and ma$e them average citi)ens. &n my o"n opinion, prisons should be transformed into schools for good behaviour, not punishment cells. That "ay, criminals could become better people and start contributing to society, tax money "ouldn!t be "asted on prisons, and children "ouldn!t have fathers in prisons, and their "ives "ouldn!t cheat on them, and that "ay, many families "ould be saved. lso, many criminals brag about time they spent in prison* They surely "ouldn!t brag about time spent in school again.
