Dear Mr. Fisher: I have recently been informed about this internship opportunity from my school advisors at the University of Texas at El Paso. I am writing to apply for the Strategic Risk Management/Accounting Internship. The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas internship position interests me not only for the prestige that comes with getting accepted but because of the knowledge I would acquire throughout the process that would further help my upcoming Accounting career. My qualifications and abilities show that I am suitable for this internship. Im currently a sophomore working on my bachelors degree to major in Accounting with a 3.62 GPA. Ive taken courses that have provided me with the skills to post daily ledgers as well as closing jobs, which is what this internship requires. My accounting courses have prepared me to analyze problems, inquire and prioritize tasks. I was a cash/sales associate in my previous job at Dds retail store in which I had to apply some minor accounting practices such as calculating inventory shortage. I have strong writing skills as well as interpersonal skills. I am able to speak clearly and confidently enough to be able to communicate with all the levels of the support staff as well as to the upper-levels such as the senior level executives of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas when needed. Being part of the Accounting Society has given me a first look on how important it is to communicate with your peers on a daily basis to be able to fulfill your responsibilities efficiently. Ive taken various computer courses during high school and college. Therefore I am highly proficient with the use of personal computers and skilled at using various software applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Peachtree.
