Miss Medinas Class Week of 4/21/2014

Reading/Writing: This week we are focusing on the letter Xx. Students will sort words by their initial sounds, and review sounds. Students will blend individual sounds together to make words, segmenting sounds from words (taking them apart), and building short a, i and o words (e.g. cat, mit, dog). Comprehension Strategy of the Week: Noting details while reading or listening to a story, think about important things that happen in the story. This helps you understand the story better. Math: This week we are starting a new chapter in our math books, Classify Objects. This week we are learning to recognize objects that are alike and different, use logical reasoning (which does not belong?), sort by size, sort by shape and sort by count. We will have our chapter test on Friday. *I have included a My Review page in this weeks homework. Please complete this with your child prior to Friday to help them review for the chapter test.

Mother-Son bowling is TODAY, Tuesday April 22nd. There are two sessions, 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm. If you have not pre-registered, SPOTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. Just show up and register at the bowling alley, Roxy Ann Lanes. Have fun! :)

Allergy season is gearing up, and tissues are going quickly! We are down to our last few boxes of tissues. If you are able to, please send in a box of tissues. This will help us get through peak allergy season, until the end of the year.
