This week we are focusing on the letter Vv, /v/. Students will sort words

by their initial sound /v/, and review sounds /h/, /n/,/b/, /t/, /s/, /m/. Students will blend individual sounds together to make words, as well as segmenting sounds from words (taking them apart). Story of the Week: My Dad and I by Julio Ricardo Baerga Letter of the Week: Vv Sight Word of the Week: to Alphafriend this week: Vinnie Volcano* Song will be on our class website: www.msmedinakinder.weebly.com

Math: Composing and decomposing numbers 3-10, recognizing, reading and writing
numbers 10-20, counting 1-100 (should be able to count to 70 independently by end of trimester). My Math Curriculum: This week we are learning how to compose and decompose the number 10, and introduce graphing (we will be tasting hot chocolate and graphing if we like it or not). We will also complete the Chapter 4 test.

Please be sure to keep both sheets stapled together, and to sign and initial both. This is what is necessary for students to get full credit for their homework. Homework is always due on Tuesdays. Students will be given full credit for a homework that has all pages intact and is signed for completion. Students who have a complete homework will get a star sticker on their attendance card. Three star stickers in a row will result in a prize!!

Sees Candies fundraiser is DUE. If you have collected money please send it in. Be sure to write your childs name and my name (Medina) on the envelope so that the PTO knows which class your child is in. Thanks for all of your help supporting Jewett! Thanks for spreading positivity throughout our community. Power of Positive! :)

Please make sure your child arrives to school on time, and is ready to learn. Students are making very good progress this year, and have learned a lot so far. In order to keep up this positive momentum, its imperative that students are coming to school everyday. It is very easy for students to fall behind if they are not here. Its also important that they have had breakfast (or are here early enough to eat it in the cafeteria). Students do not have lunch until 10:35, and will need some healthy fuel to get them through their morning. :) Remember school starts at 7:55, supervision starts at 7:30 (this is when the cafeteria opens for breakfast). If you arrive after 7:55, please go to the office to get a pass to class.

The flu has been going around school lately. We are doing our best to keep germs from being passed around, but if your child is visibly sick, please keep them home. It is important for students to be at school, but it is also important to keep our students well. If your child is ill I will make a packet of class work from the day they missed and put it in their cubbie. You are welcome to come pick it up so that they can complete at home while they are missing school. Please be sure to let me or the office know if your child will not be at school. Thank you!!
