top priority, and make sure your child attends every day except in cases of illness or emergency. If
your child is absent, you must send a written note in order for the absence to be excused.

We use agendas to record daily behavior and messages from the teacher. Your child will keep their
agenda for the entire year, and will need to bring it to school daily. Agendas must be signed
nightly. Please send any notes to me in the agenda.

these activities.

assistance once in the car please continue to the parking area. This is a very busy time for teachers
and staff. Your cooperation with the dismissal procedures is greatly appreciated and helps us to
assure the safety of our students.

line, accessed from the Parsons Road entrance. Students will enter through the double glass doors.
Please do not drop off in front of the school; this area is reserved for buses.

This is our new program to monitor student behavior. Students can earn points or have points taken
away depending on their behavior. Students must earn a set amount of points each nine week to be
able to attend the ROAR parties. I will also post pictures and information on our class Dojo page so
you will want to check it daily!

You can email me at davenportta@rcschools.net

Extra Practice folders will go home every Monday and should be returned on Friday. Please space
the extra practice throughout the week, it is not meant to be done all in one night. You will need
the following supplies at home for homework: crayons, scissors, pencils, and glue sticks.

Throughout the year, we will schedule field trips to enhance our curriculum. Permission slips will go
home as field trips are approaching. Parents are welcome to join us!

Kindergarten participates in the Teracycle Drink Pouch Brigade by collecting any brand of empty
juice pouches, with the straw removed. We earn two cents for each pouch collected. We will
conduct school wide drives, but feel free to send these in at any time.

We will have a lot of fun throughout the year!

We strive to treat all of our friends with kindness.

Our lunch time is from 10:30-10:55. Your child may either bring a lunch from home or buy a tray

We have two P.E. teachers, Mr. Todd and Mr. Faulkner. Keep in mind that your child will need to
wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.

Quick goodbyes will leave drier eyes.

Your child will be bringing a reading folder home every week. You will find a book, sight words, and
parent signature log in the folder. I am asking that you sit down for a few minutes and let your
child read his/her book to you. The books your child will be bringing home are used to reinforce the
sight words we are learning each week. Also, it is very important to go over the sight words. You
will sign the parent signature log each time your child brings the reading folder home. This lets me
know that your child has practiced the book and the sight words with you. Your child will be
introduced to a new book each week. It is very important to be involved in this!

Our classroom rules can be found in the behavior management portion of the packet.

Students will receive report cards that will evaluate your childs progress academically and socially.
Please sign and return to school promptly. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about
your childs progress.

Kindergarten students are responsible for independently packing and unpacking their backpacks,
bringing agendas daily, returning homework, handling bathroom and clothing needs.

Sign up for Remind to receive class text messages. The instructions are attached in this packet!

Please send 20, individually wrapped snacks, for our class snack tub at the beginning of each month.
Please let me know if your child has any
food allergies ASAP!!!

We will be ordering class shirts to wear for field trips and special events. Each kindergarten class
will have a different color shirt in order to easily spot students. Shirts are available for parents,
as well, if you would like one.

Please talk with your child about the way they will be going home. If they ride a bus, help them to
learn the bus number. We MUST have a note from a parent or guardian if there will be any changes
in transportation. Please make these arrangements before school!
Transportation badges will be attached to students backpacks, please leave them on all year so
teachers can make sure our sweet Kindergarteners make it where they need to be!

Your child will have a take home folder that I will send home daily. This folder will contain any
newsletter, completed class work, or any class work they did not finish that will need to be
completed for homework and returned the next day. I will send home your childs completed class
work daily. Please check your childs folder every day!

We are a team working together to help your child become successful in school. Please let me know
if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child this year. Throughout the school year I
will be communicating with you through e-mails, notes, phone calls, newsletters, progress reports,
report cards, parent-conferences, and most importantly the agenda.

Each week we will study various skills, which will be themed for educational purposes.

WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS IN KINDERGARTEN! I have a volunteer sign up page attached.

Volunteering may include: making copies, tracing and cutting items for upcoming lessons, working

with students, etc. School policy prohibits you from bringing siblings into the building while
volunteering.

My website has information about what we are learning, pictures, a calendar, and much more. You
can get to the site by going through the schools website (ces.rcs.k12.tn.us) then click on parent
info, and then click on my name (Tamara Davenport).

I am excited to make this year the best one yet!

We will follow the kindergarten expectations for our daily behavior and learning expectations. We
are going to be using Class Dojo to monitor positive and negative behavior. The students will start
with a ticket each day. This is a warning ticket so once it has been taken students will lose points on
Dojo. Students can also receive points for good behavior. You can sign up for this and monitor your
students behavior daily.

You can help make sure your child feels successful this year by reading every night with them. This
encourages them to become good readers. Remember to discuss the day with them. Ask questions
like, What did you do in centers today? or What did you learn today? Ask about new friends,
music, art, P.E., library, or art.

It is so important to make sure your child is getting a good nights sleep. Establish a bedtime
routine that allows your child to get plenty of sleep each night.
