OBJECTIVE I am pursuing a job as an elementary school teacher that will enable me to use my skills in teaching and special education by working with children to promote education EDUCATION Bryan College, Dayton, TN Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education EXPERIENCE Mission Trip, Philadelphia, PA March 16-March 21 2010 Member Led 12 children ages 5-12 in an after school program from 3:00-8:00 for a week. Resolved conflicts and ensured the kids safety in a dangerous neighborhood. Youth Group Mission Trip, Philadelphia, PA July 9, 2010-July 16, 2010 Chaperon Served as the female chaperon for eight girls ages 14-17 over the course of the mission trip. Oversaw and supervised the girls as they carried out tasks and participated in various activities. Engaged with the girls at night, discussed the events of the day, and talked with them about how they could work more cohesively as a group. Rancho 3M - Christian Orphanage and School June 25-July 4, 2013 Member Worked on the orphanage campus and presented prepared lessons to children ages 5-17 that entailed direct instruction time, activity time, games, and review time. Utilized some Spanish and worked with an interpreter. Assisted in overseeing children, resolving conflicts, and enforcing rules. Tutor Member August 2011-April 2013 Tutored a girl through her eighth and ninth grade years three times a week. She was significantly behind in all subject areas, especially in math and reading. Communicated with grandparents about homework assignments, grades, and how they could help. Met with her teachers and principal to discuss specifically what she was struggling with and how we could work together to assist her. August 2011-the present Observed teachers in multiple schools in all settings. Taught various lessons when requested, conducted review sessions, oversaw the taking of tests Worked individually with students who were struggling in various subjects. Assisted a student who had severe ADD and ADHD with daily homework assignments.
