WHAT IS GLAUCOMA?
It is the condition of increased pressure in the eyeball causing gradual loss of sight.

Which part of the eye is affected?

Glaucoma affects the drainage canal at the angle where the iris and the cornea meet.

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF GLAUCOMA?

Eye pain, usually severe Blurred vision Eye pain is often accompanied by nausea, and sometimes vomiting Looking at lights appear to have extra halo-like glows around them Red eyes Sudden, unexpected vision problems, especially when lighting is poor

WHAT CAUSES GLAUCOMA?

It is caused by high pressure in the eye. This pressure is due to a buildup of a fluid (aqueous humor) that flows in and out of your eye. This fluid normally exits your eye through a drainage system at the angle where the iris and the cornea meet. When the drainage system doesn't work properly, the fluid can't filter out of the eye at its normal rate, and pressure builds within your eye.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE GLAUCOMA?

Your sight will gradually fade away ; which may lead to blindness.
