THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN SPEECH

Honourable presiding officers, secretary general, distinguished delegates, As the expanding process of globalization opens societies to each other and diversifies them internally, the new threats to peace are becoming political, social, economic, cultural, and environmental - manifesting not singly but in complex configurations. New questions and dilemmas had risen and it is the responsibility of the United Nations to address them. We will tackle three important agendas and hopefully find a suitable agreements that will once again reaffirm cooperation among nations. Kazakhstan has its own unique view regarding topics in question and it is honoured that it can share it with you. Firstly, let us briefly introduce our view of the fur trade. Kazakhstan is committed to fair and responsible trade in fur skins and artificial fur. It will strive towards a common agreement that will regulate fur trade, prevent the senseless killing of animals and ensure the quality and origin of fur products. Secondly, we will address the question of inter-ethnic relations. Kazakhstan has about 130 ethnic groups. Their rights and freedoms are guaranteed in the Constitution and with the work of the advisory body named the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan will strive towards the establishment of similar advisory body or regime at the international level. Excelencies, environmental protection and development are Kazakhstans main concerns. Kazakhstan is very active at the regional level where it plays a leading role in the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia, Aral Sea Basin Program and Green Bridge Partnership Programme and would like to take over similar responsibility at the global level. Its mission is to lead the world onto the green revolution path. Kazakhstan will promote global regime regarding standards for green economy, green business and green technologies. Kazakhstan will continue to play the role of an interested and responsible Member State of the United Nations, ready to take on increased responsibilities and consistently implement them in full. Thank you and we wish you a fruitful debate.
