Creating writing assignments for the math classroom is difficult to do. There is strong student opposition to writing in math. Howe ver, it is a requirement of the Common Core.

Reflection
In order to effectively implement the Common Core State Standards, teachers must spend time and effort coming up with activities that will meet these benchmarks, as well as keep students actively engaged. This can be through group work or even simple fun activities that relate to real-world situations. Even though this takes time and effort on the part of the teacher, it will be beneficial for student understanding.

Narrative
Recently, there has been a major policy change in the way educators design and implement curriculum. The introduction of the Common Core has caused many teachers and schools to change how and what they teach. As a new teacher just beginning my career in education, it is easier for me because I have only been taught the Common Core. For others who have taught for several years the task is not as easy. Coming up with activities that encourage group work and writing in the math classroom have become a requirement of todays teachers.
