PART V: CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, ISSUES AND CONCERNS

Creating sustainable improvements in the school curriculum has been a virtual

challenge to the school system. Curriculum managers and educational experts are
always looking for better ways to achieve better learning through teaching. However,
curriculum innovations seemed to be difficult for many, issues which need to be
addressed. Certain aspects need to be clarified to overcome the attitude and feelings
that create some concerns. Issues on the varied implementation of the curriculum
among schools and teachers seem to be the one of the reasons for the prevailing low
performance of the schools all over the country. Overcrowded classrooms do not
provide a good learning environment. This could be responded to by inspecting
curriculum implementers in the day-to-day curriculum activities at the grass root and
supplying the needed materials at the schools.

As cited, some of the reasons why these issues were raised it is because
implementers are lack of full understanding of the changes of modifications that they are
doing. The goal is unclear, thus there are lots of questions in the implementation as well
as evaluation from concerned persons. Lack of regular monitoring and evaluation. After
a new curriculum has been installed, it is left unattended. With so many new changes
taking place in the curriculum, many teachers are getting burn out. Most of them get
tired quickly and motivation is so low because they cannot cope up with the rapid
changes that take place.

As an educator it is very important to act professionally inside and outside the

school and aware of our words and actions because we are the educator who bring
learnings and knowledge to the people to our students, that’s why reflecting on oneself
is necessary to have a good choices and critical thinking development. The role of the
teacher is not always teaching but a superior to all aspect of our life, they play a
significant role in our life, the knowledge, individual growth, wisdom, and reality to
continue their path as educator to help young children in pursuing their dreams no
matter what happen.

Reflection and curriculum development are necessary ingredient towards a

successful teaching and learning process. In conclusion, all the above-mentioned
issues and concerns need to be responded quickly. All these need to be raise and need
immediate actions. Teachers must reflect, assess, and evaluate their teaching either it
fits or in line in the curriculum.
