Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was the leader of the Civil War. His job was to stop the South and help the North to stay strong and defeat the South keeping the country united. He helped about 200,000 people from slavery and gave freedom. Abraham Lincoln was born in a single room in a log cabin in Hardin County,Kentucky. When he was nine years old his mother died and his sister Sarah use to take care of him until his dad remarried. Abraham had very little form of education but he was interested in books. He learned some things by reading books. Most of all he learned about self education. Later his family moved to Illinois where Abraham could live on his own. He soon won a seat in the Illinois legislature when he was 25. Lincoln served on the Illinois Legislature several times. During that time he studied the law and started to work as an lawyer. then he ran for the U.S. Congress in 1845. In 1860 Lincoln ran for president of U.S. when he became president he wanted to go against slavery. But the south side disagreed for Lincoln to be president. The Civil War began on April 12,1861. In the Civil War about more than 200,000 citizens died then finally the Civil War ended on April 9, 1865. Lincolns death When Lincoln was watching a play in the Ford Theater in Washington, D.C., this guy named John Wilkes Booth sneaked in the box and shot Abe on the back of his head. Lincolns friend tried to stop it but John stabbed his friend to so then he ran out the door to escaped on his horse. After Abe was taken across the street there were doctors there but they couldnt help it he died the next day. Then after 2 weeks John was founded in a barn hiding so when they found him he didnt surrender so the soldiers shot him. His friends were hanged for their crime and that was the life of Abraham Lincoln.
