Expectations: Students classroom expectations are as outlined in the Mesabi East student handbook. Students are required to clean up their own messes from studio work, and return tools and supplies to their proper places. Art materials are for Art class assigned artwork only (not for personal use, or for other classes). Grade Scale: Grades scale is PowerSchools default grading scale. *IF a work ethic and clean-up category is added, it will be given 10% weight. ** IF a nal exam is given, it will be given 20% weight. Materials: A wide variety of material may be used which may include and not be limited to: pencil, charcoal, pastels, oil pastels, markers, water colors, paints, clay and glazes, paper mach, found objects, glass etching, tile mosaic, digital media, and more. Course Description: A general exploration of art and materials. Students will use elements and principles of art and design while exploring various media. Students will show at least one of their projects to meet performance standards. Students will periodically review or critique their work, and make adjustments to improve performance. Students may research an artist or art style, write about that artist or art style, and do a project inspired by their researched artist or art style. Often the research project is inspired by Native American pottery. Course Outline: Line: Drawing Basics One Point Perspective Value: Shading & Shadows Grid Drawing Portraits Color: Wheel, Mixing, Etc. SketchBook Express App Space: Depth in a Picture Texture: Paper Mache Form: clay, Coil Building Native American Inspired Pottery Other Projects as Assigned Course assignments may vary based on limitations of scheduling, availability of materials, and teachers discretion.
