Literacy and Parenting Skills Train The Facilitator Workshop
During this 2.5 day facilitator training, you will learn how to facilitate the LAPS program. LAPS is an innovative family literacy program designed to assist parents in building their literacy and parenting skills. Parents with low literacy skills learn strategies that enable them to help their children with their literacy skill development, while exploring parenting topics and working on their own literacy skills. The LAPS program includes sessions on: Ages & Stages, Building Self-Esteem in Our Children, Listening Skills, Positive Discipline, Conflict Management, Families as Teams, and more. At the completion of LAPS you will have explored: LAPS curriculum and how to incorporate it into your agencys programming Facilitation strategies Assessing community needs Literacy instructional techniques Cross-cultural facilitation strategies Parent education
