Independent Reading

Read silently, incorporate reading skills learned during mini-lesson. Choose book if needed. Can also be writing a response to text. and/or Participate in one on one conference with teacher. Before meeting-read, take notes, write down any thoughts or comments, during meeting share their thinking and respond to one another, pose questions to one another, evaluate the quality of the discussion, set goals and expectations for following meeting. Listen and learn, participate in guided practice and independent practice.

9:35-10:00

Literature Circles

Establish and teach the routines, select book, facilitate the conversations, interject or ask prompting, make sure that the students evaluate the discussion.
