MARCH 2021 LAC SESSION REPORT

I. DATE: March 31, 2021

II. VENUE: Grade 3-M Classroom

III. ATTENDANCE: refer to attached attendance sheet:

IV. TOPIC: “Positive Discipline”

V. PROBLEM STATEMENT

“There are no bad kids, just bad behavior.” Children are born with the need to connect
with others, and children that feel a connection with their family, school and community are
less likely to misbehave. And to be successful members of their community, children need to
learn appropriate social and life skills. Positive discipline helps teach these skills. Nowadays,
many teachers are applying positive discipline in managing their class rather than punishment
or rewards.

VI. SHARING OF IDEAS

The LAC session facilitator, Mrs. Melba Enverzo, opened up by showing video of a
classroom situation wherein the teacher used positive discipline. After which, she shared her
experience upon applying positive discipline in her own class. The teachers were then given a
chance to share their own experiences as well. A consensus was decided that positive
discipline is more effective way to manage misbehaving pupils than using punishment or
rewards. It allows pupils to learn and adapt their behaviors to meet expectations in the
classroom.
VII. ACTIVITY UNDERTAKEN
The teachers were asked to write down challenging/ difficult behaviors that they have
encountered or continue to encounter this school year in a metacard. After which, they were
asked to classify the most challenging behavior that is written in the metacards.

VIII. DISCUSSION

Facilitator gives a lecturette highlighting the Positive Discipline:

1. What is Positive Discipline?

2. Characteristics of Positive Discipline
3. Positive Discipline in your Classroom
4. Positive Discipline for Everyday Teaching

IX. SOLUTION

Pupils’ right to fully participate in his/her learning should be recognized and that is the
main purpose of positive discipline.
The teachers then have all agreed to apply positive discipline in managing their class.
