2. School Current Situation….

Introduction to the School

San Miguel Elementary School (SMES) is located at Poblacion, San Miguel, Bulacan

which is the center of the town. This 33, 070 square-meter school has a Tax Declaration

document only. The District Office resides in SMES which is 42.5 kilometers from the Division

Office of Bulacan at Capitol Compound, Malolos City, Bulacan.

SMES offers kindergarten to grade six with special curricular program in Special Science

Elementary School (SSES). Moreover, the school is also one of the few that caters inclusive

education in Special Education (SPED) and Alternative Learning System (ALS) Programs.

In this school year (2022-2023), SMES houses two thousand two hundred twenty

(2,120) school children from Kinder to Grade VI, sixty seven (67) regular permanent teachers

under Principal IV, Dr. Dante S. Liongson. The school is under the supervision of the District

Supervisor of San Miguel South District.

This century old school was founded in 1905, making it as one of the oldest elementary

schools in San Miguel. It offers kindergarten up to grade six with quality education for all

potential learners coming not only from the nearest to the farthest barangay in the town of San

Miguel. There are also pupils who are from the neighboring towns like Gapan, Nueva Ecija and

towns from near Pampanga as well.

The school is strategically situated downtown where different commercial and

government establishments are located. It is near the municipal hall, police station, public

market and the parish church of San Miguel. As it is located at the Poblacion, SMES

stakeholders has diverse socio-economic status where learners came from various kinds of

households.

The school is easily accessed through the main roads of Poblacion, San Juan, San

Vicente, and the Maharlika Highway. This gives our learners convenience to travel from their

homes to the school and vice versa, whether they commute in public transportation or even if

they have their private service. However, the downside of its location is the floods the school
encounter during extreme rains and storms. Which is being remedied by new classrooms that

are being built higher and heightening the floorings of the current classrooms that were affected

by previous floods.

San Miguel Elementary School and its’ community linkages involve parents to enhance

children's educational outcomes. Standard parent involvement practices such as monitoring

children's homework, helping them to read, and volunteering in schools during Brigada Eskwela,

Gulayan sa Paaralan Program, and other school related programs strengthen the bond with its

stakeholders.

Changes and development are eminent, SMES continuously encompasses

improvements to better serve our beloved clients – our learners.
