Steven Rachmuth Surrealism

As a method of formative assessment, during the lessons introductory presentation I asked students, WHAT DOES THIS MAKE YOU WONDER, in reaction to Rene Magrittes 1938 oil on canvas painting, Time Transfixed. Students were given 90 seconds to work in pairs or in groups of three to brainstorm and respond on pieces of paper. We then used these visual analysis responses in our continued discussion of Surrealism.
