Task 3: Simulation for head loss Using the selected geometry (from grid independence study), determine the head loss for the Reynolds numbers 10000 - 100000 in increments of 10000. Task 4: Empirical calculation of head loss Calculate head loss by either the equivalent length method or the velocity head method (Refer to CHE 322 Process plant engineering lecture notes) and compare with the CFD results.
Hand in the following: (i) Workbench file with all the fluid flow analysis systems created for grid independence study (ii) the case files of different Re (10000 100000) (iii) a MS word file containing the comparison of CFD and empirical static head loss.
