PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP FOR ADVO ADVOCATES AND LAW TEACHERS ON SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE

OBJECTS: Science and Technology are the driving forces for development in the 21st century. All departments of governance have to adapt themselves to the growing influence of science and technology and address the problems they throw up in human relations and social ordering. This workshop aims to look at the impact of S&T in law and legal ordering of society including administration of justice. It will also examine how S&T could be utilized to facilitate judicial administration for better access to justice. PARTICIPATION: Limited to 30 of whom 25 will be advocates including prosecutors and 5 law teachers. Interested persons to apply online to e-mail iba-cle@nls.ac.in at least three weeks before the event. There is no registration fee nor any cost involved for participants except travelling expenses. Boarding, lodging and study materials to be provided free by organizers. RESOURCE PERSONS: Leading lawyers, scientists and judges. ORGANIZING PARTNER: The local organizing partner for the five-day event is the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, one of the leading law schools of the country offering a science and technology-based law curriculum. Established in 1999, NUJS during the last fifteen years has grown up as a research oriented centre for professional legal studies attracting students and faculty from India and abroad. It offers the five year integrated LL.B.(Hons.) Degree programme, LL.M. and Ph.D. Degree courses and a variety of diploma and certificate programmes.
