Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a restful week. Below are the things we will be doing this week. Lets have fun learning. :) Literacy We are reading some great books: Were Going on a Nature Hunt , Whales, and Wake-Up Its Spring. In literacy this week we are creating letter W watermelon craft. The children will be exploring how to segment and blend words. They will be practicing writing using white boards, bottle cap words and clip board writing. Math In math the children will review estimation jars and determine which group has more/less or equivalent. The activities include : estimation jars, manipulative discovery and How many more does this group have? Unit How the World Works, Central Idea: Exploring with our five senses leads to discovery. For learner profile for this unit we are learning to be Inquirer and Risk-Taker. In unit of inquiry this week we will be discussing how our five senses help us explore.
Home Connection: Have your child practice writing his/her name. This week is Ww ( Big line, Big line, Big line, Big line). MEASURE EVERYTHING. Collect empty jars of various sizes and shapes. Set a dishpan or large pot of water outside and let your child explore the jars. Then have her compare how much the jars hold by pouring water from one to another. Please always feel free to capture a picture of your child learning at home and send it via-email to me or an actual picture to share in class. Thank you for all your support and working hard with child. :)
