Amelia Earhart was an American aviator and pioneer. She was rst female aviator to y solo across Atlantic Ocean. Earhart was born in her grandparents house in Atchison KS, on July 24, 1897. She lived there almost 10 years and in 1908 she moved with her parents. That same year, her parents took her to the Iowa State Fair where 10-years-old Amelia rst saw an airplane, but she was not impressed it was a thing of rusty wire and wood and looked out at all interesting. Earharts family was moving frequently, because of that it was hard for Amelia to make or keep friends, thats why in her school yearbook Amelia is listed as the girl in brown who walks alone.

According to the International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR), Earhart and Noonan survived on the island for several weeks. They caught sh, seabirds and turtles and collected rainwater.

In 1920 at a Long Beach air show Earhart took a plane ride that transformed her life. It was only 10 minutes, but when she landed she knew she had to learn to y.
