Sandra Burns April 4, 2014 Malaysia Flight 370 TRT
Host Intro: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared on March 8, and after almost a month, no trace of the plane has been found. There were 227 passengers and 12 crew members aboard the aircraft. The transponders on the plane were shut down, making it invisible to commercial radar. Military radar detected the plane shortly after, but only detected the plane once. Officials have not yet ruled out any causes of the transponder shut off, including a hijacking or a mechanical failure. As of April 2, investigators are searching a 85,000 square-mile patch of the Indian Ocean, no clues have been discovered. One question remains on everyones mind: what happened to the missing plane? Kean University senior, Sara Voza, has this to say about flight 370: Sara Voza But somewhere we cant find the plane. Host Transition: Adam Fattah (FUH-TAH) feels the same way: Adam Fattah Its a cover up for something. Host Close: On day 28 of the investigation for the missing plane, hope of finding the plane may be coming to a close. The plane was equipped with underwater locating beacons, known as pingers, which are only guaranteed to work for 30 days. According to CNN, these pingers, which were scheduled for battery replacement in 2012, were never sent to the factory. The pingers may have already died, but investigators continue their search for the plane and its 239 passengers. Im Sandra Burns for the sound of Kean University, 90.3 the New WKNJ FM.
