“Jump” Cut

Adding effects to a Jump Cut

To make someone disappear
Footage with talent in scene
Footage without talent
 I’m using Final Cut Pro to edit
We are going to make the person disappear
from the scene as the elevator door closes

Select your “out” point to where the door is about half way
closed
Next, select an “in” point from your footage without
the talent
-I matched it up so the door is in the same position
When both clips are on the timeline
this is what we have
 With the razor blade tool (b)
cut the clip so that the last frame and first
frame are separate

Added Effects:
Pond Ripple
Lens Flare
Wind Blur
And some debris as an added effect
Add debris to the track above your scenes
-go modify, composite mode, screen
I rotated the debris footage 180 degrees and
lowered the opacity by about half
