Objectives:

Students will recognize the significant aspects of the members that operate within the Legislative
Branch (DOK1)


Materials:
-Book: Magruderss American Government
- MacBooks
- pencils
- paper
- Legislative Branch Powerpoint
- Assignment: redistrictinggame.org

Opening (Set)
Review the Bell Ringer and ask students the significance of the Legislative Branch. This will
give an opening to begin the power point presentation.

Learning Task:
Power point presentation on the Legislative Branch.

Senate
- Terms and Session
- The House of Representatives

- Representatives of the People

- Non-salary compensation


- Assignment: After finishing the powerpoint, students will be given a web address to
begin an assignment. Students will go to the redistrictinggame.org site and begin
playing the game. Students will understand how congressional districts are drawn
and are required to finish the mission objectives. All students must take a snapshot of
each finished mission and place them in the assignment dropbox.
Closure:
Answer any questions about the assignment and help students if needed.
