Texas Revolution Research Project

Option #1 (Trading Cards)



Directions: Create at least 5 trade cards that show how Texas was changed by the people and
events connected to the Texas Revolutionary war.

1. Research at least 5 different people who played an important role from any of the
battles of the Texas Revolution.
2. On a 4x6 index card write at least 4 facts about the person on one side.
3. On the opposite side draw or print a picture of the person and glue it to the index card.
4. The trading card should be neat, colorful, and easy to read.
5. You may use your Social Studies textbook, internet, and books from the library.
6. Use the rubric below to make sure you have all the items necessary to get a good grade.

Option #2 (Timeline)

Directions: Create a timeline of the Texas Revolution that shows the important events of each
battle from beginning to end.

1. Create a chronological timeline describing the important events that took place,
including dates, names of the battle and names of important people.
2. Select 4 facts that were most important to each event.
3. You may use your Social Studies textbook, the internet, and books from the library.
4. Come up with a creative way of displaying your timeline.
5. You may draw or print out a picture and glue them to your timeline where needed.
6. Use the rubric below to make sure you have all the items necessary to get a good grade.

Option #3 (Diorama)

Directions: Create a three-dimensional diorama of one of the battles from the Texas Revolution that
most interests you.

1. Choose a battle to research from the Texas Revolution and create a three-dimensional diorama
showing what happened.
2. You may use your Social Studies textbook, the internet, and books from the library.
3. Use a shoe box to display the battle you choose.
4. The background and foreground must show a relationship to the setting of the battle.
5. At least 4 objects must be three-dimensional in the diorama.
6. Write a paragraph describing the battle represented in your display.
