The students of BBA V semester and few faculty members went to attend a seminar on Women
Safety & Security Issues at Workplace: A Shared Responsibility, at PHD Chambers of
Commerce and Industry on 8
th
October, 2013. The visit was organized with the objective of
spreading the awareness with respect to gender equality.
The seminar started with an Introduction of the guests and theme by Mr. Saurabh Sanyal,
Executive Director PHD Chamber and Welcome Address by Mr. Ravi Wig, President PHD
Chamber. The Guest Speaker, Ms. Poonam Dalal, DCP, Faridabad highlighted facts about her
experiences in dealing with such issues. She encouraged the participants to identify violence in
terms of physical, mental, emotional and also to open up and raise voice against violence.

Ms. Raavi Birbal who is an Advocate with many Corporate Houses, provided snippets of laws
made to support womens safety and security at workplace She even quoted that women should
be aware about their rights and about the laws favouring them and should take required action
against any kind of misbehaviour conducted by any one and utilize those rights. Mr. A S Chawla,
Commissioner of Police, Faridabad echoed the issue with a strategy adopted by Faridabad Police
which can help in dealing with women security and gender sensitization at workplace. He
presented a souvenir imprinted with I Respect Women to all the participants in order to
reinforce the thought at the end. This was followed by high tea.
