two important questions:

1. What is the reading all about?


2. What was the main point or points
the author made about this topic?
Or you can think of it this way:

When you get to the main idea
question, do this:
– sk yourself what the main idea might be
before you look at the choices. If there is an
answer similar to your own thought, you have
probably found the right answer.
– Go back to the passage to check
your answer and make sure it¶s an
umbrella statement that covers the
details in the passage.
  
  
–Come of the answers are there to throw you
off. There will often be a sentence
directly from the passage, but that may
not be the answer!
