To mark the alarm, which is already seen from the alarm list. The acknowledgement will indicate that the
alarm is already taken care by the staff.

This document describes the procedure to be followed on how to acknowledge alarms. The details regarding
acknowledgement of alarms generated from the different network elements (MSC,HL,!SC,!TS,"MC, and
#MS ser$ers% are all described in the procedure part of this document.

&cknowledgement of alarms is always done from the #MS'(((. )t is to be noted that acknowledging an alarm
does not cancel or correct the alarm situation. )t means that the sur$eillance engineer had
seen the alarm and will start to to initiate action to deal with the alarm. This task can be
accomplished from the Top Le$el *ser )nterface $iew on the #MS'((( workstation. +ach
alarm occurrence can be acknowledged indi$idually or all alarms can be acknowledged at
the same time in a single acknowledgement operation on a network element of interest.

&cknowledgement of alarms can be accomplished in two ways,
-. &cknowledging alarms from the Alarm Monitor Viewer.
'. &cknowledging alarms from the Alarm History Viewer.
-. &cknowledging alarms from the &larm Monitor .iewer.
-.-. "n the #MS'((( workstation, open the Top Le$el *ser )nterface by clicking on the Top-level UI
icon on the .*+ /ront 0anel. This will display a $iew of all network elements managed by the
#MS'((.

%. "nce the &larm Monitor .iewer window is open and the alarm list is
displayed, any of the alarm items can be selecti$ely acknowledged or all of the alarms can be
acknowledged.
-.3. &cknowledge the alarm(s%.
-.3.-. To acknowledge 4ust one alarm, click the Ack button ne5t to the alarm item. The alarm is now
acknowledged and the 6&ck7 button disappears.
-.3.'. To acknowledge se$eral alarms simultaneously, press the Ctrl key while clicking on e$ery
alarm item to be acknowledged using the right mouse button. This will highlight the selected
alarms. Click on Alarm and then click Ack Selected Alarms. The selected alarms are now

'.3.-. To acknowledge MSC or HL alarms, double click on an MSC icon. This will open a $iew
showing the MSC and HL. Click on MSC or HL using the right mouse button. & popup
menu appears. /rom the popup menu, click on Alarm History, then click on Default or Search
Criteria. This will open the 6&larm History ;indow7 displaying all alarms on the MSC or HL.
To acknowledge 4ust one alarm, click the Ack button ne5t to it. The alarm is now acknowledged
and the 6&ck7 button disappears. To acknowledge all of the alarms, click on Utils from the
6&larm History ;indow7. This opens a popup menu. Choose Ack All from the menu. #ow all
the alarms in the current set are acknowledged.
