Size of group: 15-18 kids Age of children: 4 to 5 year olds
Activities/Purpose:
Activity #1 o First I will ask the kids how many feet they have. What do we wear on our feet? How long are our feet? Where are our feet?
o I chose this activity because I want them to focus on their feet and the various silly things we might wear on them or walk on.
Activity #2 o Next, I will introduce and read our book, How Many Feet, by Dr. Suess.
o I chose this activity because I want them to learn how to count and measure.
Activity #3 o Next, I will introduce our small group activity. We will draw on paper the outline of our feet and cut them out. We will then go about measuring how many feet high or long things are.
o I chose this activity because its a fun and silly way to learn how to measure and count things by feet.
Transition Activity o Finally, I will end my circle time and transition the children by playing, The Hokey, Pokey game.
o I chose this transition activity because it gets them up and moving after sitting during the story and allows them some high energy time. I will also dismiss children during the song at intervals to their next station as we did previous day.
