Parque Figueroa

Designed by Rafael de la Hoz and built in 1968, Parque de

Figueroa is a densely populated residential complex, complete
with its own shops, swimming pools and church.

It is divided into three blocks, the outer two being predominantly resi-
dential, while the central block is the one which makes this particular
scheme so successsful.

Approaching the complex via the main road you enter a densely packed
forecourt. The main path is forced to diviate from the axis dividing
the block to skirt around the church. As you walk further into the plan
of the central block the section begins to change.
The boundary between the pool area and the shops is accentuated by
a buffer zone of fountains and seating, and a level change of one
storey.

The sunken courtyard is accessed by a ramp to the right of the

main axis, which in turn leads out to the pool and green area.

The paved area to the left of the main axis is framed by the
boundary of level change to one side, seating, planting and
shaded areas.
