5 mins Phase 1 Introduce, topic ears, sense of hearing. Start with discussing hearing as a sense how some sounds sound pleasing while others sound harsh. Discuss the areas of the ear using the picture on the website, and what the different parts do. (not essential for students to remember the parts names)
Phase 2 Discuss the process of sound retention within the brain e.g. memories using the information found on the website. Pose the question, if you have your eyes closed, how do you know your best friend is talking you you? Explain how the brain retains sounds in the memory and thats how we recognise familiar sounds. In pairs have the students do the magic school bus sound challenge. As an extra challenge have one person in the pair close their eyes while guessing the sounds.
Phase 3 Revision activity. Ask randomly selected students pop quiz questions about the informations learnt during the lesson. Ask students to perform the listening assessment with their partner.
