The government of Punjab has decided to expand its metro bus service to the other cities of the

province. According to announcement made the government of Punjab launching the metro bus
project in rwp and isl.the aim is to provide comfortable, safe, efficient transportation service to
the citizens of the city. For this purpose executive committee of national economic council has
already approved the project
METRO BUS IN RAWALPINDI AND ISLAMABAD
Total 24 stations will be built for this purpose with 60 buses to carry passengers form one place
to another. The length of track laid for mbp will be 23 kilometers. On its completion, around 1
lac passengers will get benefited from this service. The project has been designed while keeping
the high passenger load in coming years. The track will be built in such a way that it can be used
for transit train service without having the need to make any further alternations. The metro bus
track will start from ijp road at faizabad and after going through ijp to 9th avenue and Jinnah
Avenue, the track will end at Pakistan secretariat. After the completion of rwp and isl the gov
will launching this project in other large cities of Pakistan including Faisalabad and Multan
ADVANTAGES
Common people would be able to travel in a dignified manner at much less fare as
compared with private transporters.
A simple way to get buses out of congestion by traveling on the shoulder instead of
sitting in rush-hour traffic.
the cost of a ticket from the first to the last station will be as low as Rs45 which can be
affordable by everyone4
With the coming Metro, bus system common people specially the middle and lower
middle class, students and women would be able to travel in a much more dignified
manner.
If successful, the rwp and isl Metro Project has all the potential to become a
transportation role model for replication in other major cities of the Punjab like
Faisalabad, and Multan. .
