Q. . Explain the difference between internal and external communication

Ans. The difference between the two forms of communications is the environment

they happen in. Internal communication is an exchange of ideas and information

within the organization. External communication, on the other hand, is the

exchange of information that happens outside the organization.

Q. Describe the importance of PR to a business.

Ans. Public Relations (PR) is about raising your company's authority, building

relationships with key people and managing your reputation. ... But PR is

important to increase sales and gain customers. The aim of PR is to inform the

public, including your potentialwe customers and business partners.

Q. Analyse how Harrods uses social media to promote brand awareness?

Ans. Harrods using social media in a dynamic way by involving his audience in a

consistent way to recruit information allowing important decisions in the company

ocial media also enables Harrods to reach a more diverse and

younger audience through maintaining a strong online presence

with a variety of networking sites and by regular updates.


Social media can also be used in partnership with external

companies. Harrods offers products from a vast range of luxury

brands and works closely with each one to ensure that any

marketing information about these products follows their brand

guidelines as well Harrods brand guidelines. Further

collaboration is undertaken through methods such as re- tweeting,

which means that content reaches a wider audience.

Q. Evaluate the effectiveness of Harrods use of social media

in recruiting new staff.

Ans. the effectiveness is very good because the company uses

different profiles for each area

Twitter example graduates and entry-level candidates and is

directed and secondly using LinkedIn to search for senior.

After the success that Harrods has had on Facebook and Twitter

combined with the retail industry move towards social recruiting,


we saw an opportunity to give our company a voice and reach out

to potential candidates; social media would give us the platform

to build relationships with people, share stories, photos,

interesting information about our company all the while

providing friendly advice and support. We started small with a

Twitter account and a Harrods careers page on LinkedIn, crafting

an ideal balance to get the backing from across the business, with

the aim of attracting talented candidates that are passionate about

Harrods. We wanted to portray Harrods as a place of work with

as much pride as we have for the store, to allow people to

experience Harrods as an employer in way that was far reaching

beyond our careers website.
