oxygen consumption

The purpose of practicum is observe the differences in oxygen consumption rate

of consumption in different species . Ie on worms and cockroaches . By using a
micro- respirometer . principle of micro-respirometer is in breathing oxygen used
by organisms and there is carbon dioxide released by it . If breathing organism
that is stored in an enclosed space and the carbon dioxide released by an organism
in an enclosed space are tied , then the air shrinkage will occur . Capillary tubes ,
and petri dish analytical balance .and materials used are !" #$ % , cockroaches,
worms, &a!" , eosin , 'aseline and cotton .

after which enter into the micro- respirometer . )fter that enter the cockroach ,

statifnya . Then start the computation time by using a stopwatch as much as +

-rom the practicum is done, we can know that the body weight of the
oxygen it needs less and less . 'ice versa . The more lightweight body , the
greater the oxygen it needs . Because , if the body is thin , then the cells get
smaller and faster until the oxygen in the cell . )nd also influenced the rate of
oxygen labor . respiration in animals , namely temperature , species , body si,e
and activity . These differences would lead to differences in the rate of oxygen
consumption . Because of differences in the type or si,e certainly shows the
difference morphological characters such as body si,e and the activities
undertaken by each of these animals . but, the literature indicates something about
the rate of oxygen consumption that temperature influences the rate of oxygen
consumption . This relates to the law of van/t hoof .
