Sony Pitfalls & Idiosyncrasies
Macro mode is effective between 1"- 35"
It is critical for an accurate close up focus, to have the Zoom
set at Maximum Wide.
When do I use Finder vs LCD Viewer?
Finder most of the time for OutsideLCD most of the time Inside.
Hologram/Nightframingmodes are great options for low light
situations. Keep Hologram in Auto mode.
Record images in the JPEG format.
Do NOT:
- Touch contact points!
- Restart PC, when memory stick is in USB!
- Remove Memory Stick from USB while light is on!
Use Tri-pod in combination with Timer for the ultimate focus!

Sony Pitfalls & Idiosyncrasies (Cont.)
Shutter speed/aperture minimum/maximum settings are (Mode dial M) :
- Shutter speeds are 30 (to record flow motion) to
1/1000 (to record frozen motion)
- Aperture settings are F2 to F8
(range changes depending on Zoom position)
When Reviewing Images on the LCD Viewerbe aware,
there is a two to three second focus delay!
Sending 5 Meg (Sonys highest quality Image setting) Images
electronically (E-mail) will sometimes not transfer or transfer very slow!
Battery Life is approximately-
- 2.5 hrs.-Still Image Recording (without Flash) & 3.5 hrs.-
Still Image Playback
Use the Windows 2000 Driver for USB Mass Storage Device
Light Metering function.
- Spot Metering (specific region)
- Center-weighted Average (determines exposure based on
center of image)
- Multi-pattern metering (exposure based on total area of image
and determines balance)

File Formats
(Which One Do I Use?)
JPEG:
- Camera default
- Lossy format (image will deteriorate with each save!)
- Designed for photo or bitmapped images
- Great for E-mail (Compresses file and protects against corruption)
GIF:
- Will not deteriorate
- Limited number of colors (256...used mostly with spot color designs)
- Used extensively for Web design
- Designed to minimize file size and improve electronic (e-mail)
transfer time
TIFF:
- Will not deteriorate
- Files tend to be large (high quality - used by graphic designers)
PDF:
- Because of Good Compatbility for crossing Software/Hardware
bridges, this format may be the best for Electronic Transfer
- Compatible with both vector or bitmapped graphics
