Dr. Daniel Willis Loras College 1450 Alta Vista Street, Box # Dubuque, IA 52001
Dear Dr. Willis:
I am writing to express my interest in an open position at International Business Machines. With experience in both math and computer sciences, as well as experience in the professional work place, I feel I have much to offer to IBM.
My key skills come from my education at Loras College, where I majored in mathematics and studied the basic computer languages. These skills culminated in to my senior thesis, a program designed to model the dynamic system of a predator-prey ecosystem. In order to predict the ecological balance between the two competing species the program was based on the lifecycle of the creatures. This required me to know JavaScript as well as how to convert natural observations into generalized differential equations.
My previous work experience at Human Rights Watch and The YMCA has given me experience in both clerical work and communications. When helping clients with purchases and arranging meetings I developed a good rapport and improvisational skills. The work also involved electronic filing and database work pertaining to purchases, supplies management, and membership signups. Both jobs required familiarity with costume interface software, which I had no problem adapting to. Hopefully these experiences I have shared with you are a sign that I am ready to meet any challenges your company may face, and that I am ready to develop my career with IBM.
