The next morning he was taken off life support. Jasons Last Moments Makowski was responding to a man walking around with a gun, while arguing with garbage workers on the intersection of Joy and Beech Daly Roads.
Once he and the other officers arrived on scene, the suspect started firing.
While attempting to take cover behind a neighbors house Makowski was shot.

The gunman continued to fire at Makowski, causing an officer to shoot and kill the suspect with a rifle.
Once the scene was secure, officers got Makowski and sent him to a local hospital, then transferring him- by helicopter- to the U Of M Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Surrounded by his family and his girlfriend, Jason succumbed to his wounds and died the next morning- May 25 th , 2007, joining his father, Frank Makowski.
