Technische Universitt Mnchen Prof. Dr. Julien Provost Project description: The domain of automation industry is currently characterized by a highly monolithic environment. In most cases there is no interoperability between different solutions offered by different vendors. As a first step, the PLCOpen association provides a vendor-independent framework based on the IEC 61131-3 standard in order to ease interoperability and data exchange between heterogeneous systems. However, in order to further increase interoperability, portability and reconfigurability of automation control solutions, there is a need to investigate the use of alternative solutions to build distributed embedded devices. This project conducted in collaboration with Dr. Alois Zoitl, fortiss GmbH, is aiming at evaluating the following open-source environments: 4DIAC, based on the IEC 61499 standard Erlang, designed by Ericson to support distributed, fault-tolerant applications Qualities and skills: Education in Automation engineering or Computer science Interest or skills in programming Evaluation of Runtime Environments for Distributed Embedded Devices in Industrial Automation (DA/MA/BA/SA) Prof. Dr. Julien Provost Tel.: +49 (0) 89 / 289 16424 Safe Embedded Systems E-Mail: provost@ses.mw.tum.de
