Facts
Selangor is bordered by three separate states.
Perak, Pahang & Negeri Sembilan
Selangor surrounds the federal territories of
Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
The State Capital Shah Alam. Whilst the royal
capital is Klang. Another major urban area in
the state is Petaling Jaya.

Economy
Selangors core economic sectors are in commerce/industry &
agriculture.
Commerce & industry makes up 58% of Selangors economy. It has
several industrial sites located throughout the state.
Port Klang plays and important part in the states economic
development as it is the busiest port in Malaysia.
The states agricultural products includes star fruits, papayas,
bananas, palm oil and rubber. Selangor also has a small number of
paddy fields.

There are many famous tourist spots in
Selangor.
Examples: I-City in Shah Alam, Zoo Negara,
Sepang Formula One Circuit, Batu Caves,
Sunway Lagoon Theme & Water Park & many

What Terengganu is famous for



Rantau Panjang. In the past, many giant leather back turtles came
ashore at this point to lay eggs. The giant leather back turtles comes

History of Melaka
Founded by a Palembang prince named Parameswara.
Named after a tree that he was sitting under after witnessing a kancil
kick one of his hunting dogs.
Had relations with Siam and China.
Melaka is an entrepot. An entrepot is a type of port which collects
various goods and ships them out to different places. Its strategic
location between the east and west trade routes made Melaka and
excellent trade hub.

The first European country to come to Melaka was the Portuguese.
The Portuguese managed to conquer Melaka on the 24th of August
1511.
After the Portuguese, the Dutch ruled Melaka for a short while. After
that, the British ruled Melaka.

Geography
Three of the largest mountains in Malaysia can be
found in the Western part of Sabah.

The most prominent range in Sabah is the Crocker
Range. Houses several mountains with varying
heights. With some as low as 1000 feet to 4000
feet.

Mount Kinabalu at 4095 feet is the tallest mountain
in Malaysia.

Sabahs jungles are classified as tropical
rainforests and has a diverse array of flora & fauna
living in them.

Besides the mountain ranges &
tropical rainforest. Sabah also has a
number of island & coral reefs of its
coast.
Economy
Sabahs economy is supported by the logging
industry due to the presence of tropical rainforests.

The economy of Sabah is also supported by
eco-tourism.

Sarawak contains large tracts of tropical rainforest

The longest river in Malaysia can be found in
Sarawak, which is the Rajang River at 563 km.

The Rajang River is the main mode of
transportation to the interior regions of Sarawak.

Sarawak is suffering from greatly from the logging
industry.

The physical geography of Pahang can be broken
down into three separate parts:

i) the highlands

ii) the rainforest

iii) the coastal areas
The Highlands
Cameron Highlands
- named after Sir William Cameron, a surveyor.
- located in the northwestern tip of Pahang.
- home to extensive tea plantations.
- major supplier of vegetables.
- has an annual temperature of 18 degree
Celsius.
Frasers Hills
- a hill resort located on the Titiwangsa Ridge.
- the temperature ranges around 17 degree
Celsius to 25 degree Celsius.
-named after Scottish Pioneer Louis James
Fraser.
- used by the British as a summer get away.
Genting Highlands
- a hill resort on the border between Pahang and
Selangor.
- founded by Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong.
- only legal casino in the whole of Malaysia.




Rainforest
-rainforest covers 2/3 of the area of the state.
- the Peninsulas highest point is Gunung Tahan
which is located inside Taman Negara.
- Taman Negara is one of Malaysias largest
national parks.
- Taman Negara also is a home to many rare and
endangered species.

- The largely mountainous range flattens out when
nearing the state capital of Kuantan.
- Pahang has many fine beaches.
-Pahang also has many offshore islands like Pulau
Tioman. Islands like Pulau Tioman has an
extensive coral reef system.
