RESPIRATORY SYSTEM EXPERIMENT II

In this experiment you will learn how a diaphragm and lungs work.

- A bottle
- A balloon
- A rubber piece
- Cellophane tape

1. First of all, you have to cut the bottle from the middle, because we
only need a half of bottle.
2. Then, you have to put the rubber piece in the bottom of the bottle,
and you have to stick it with the cellophane tape. Be sure it is stuck
properly. This will be the diaphragm.
3. After it, you have to put the balloon in the mouth of the bottle, like
you can see in the picture. You can also use the cellophane tape to
make sure it doesnt move.
4. Once you have done it, you have to take from the rubber piece (the
diaphragm) and pull it down. That way you will see how the balloon
(lungs) inflates.
5. Then, if you drop the diaphragm, the lungs will deflate.
6. So this is how our diaphragm and lungs work when we are
breathing.
7. You can look at the picture to understand it better.
