The Freelands of Amerys

A long peninsula bordered by the Lenanous Moutains and the Eleryn Sea, is considered
to be the only Free Land in Valcia. What this means is that Trainer Battles are frequent,
PokeCenters heal caught Pokemon for free, and it is home to one of the two Pokemon Academies
of Valcia, the other being in Isteroth. The Amerys Pokemon Academy is located in Tyrnel in the
southern half of the Region. The Academy is run by Professor Nathaniel T. Maple, who is also
the resident Pokemon expert of Amerys. Since it is isolated by mountains to the north and sea on
all sides, Amerys does well by itself without much interference from any of the neighboring
Kingdoms.The government of Amerys is run by a Regional Council which is elected every four
years. While
all politics have their bad apples, most of the Council Members are comprised of former
Pokemon Trainers. The Governmental seat is at Alisar, the capital of Amerys.
There are eight gyms in Amerys all of which are sanctioned to distribute Gym Badges. The Gyms
are open to the public and are usually filled with trainers trying to hone their skills.

Each year Amerys holds its Regional Championship where all Trainers are invited to participate.
Normally the Gym Leaders do not participate in the tournament but that is GM choice. Amerys
holds its Championship on the peaks of Mount Synod, a long travel for any trainer but just
making it to the tournament proves you are a worthy trainer to join the in the battles.
